The crew had a long talk about things. There's a bit of a divide among us, one that I'm not sure will close- if I had spare credits to bet, I'd say it only gets larger.
I've said it before, I'll say it again. We've reached the point where decisions must be made. Who are we, and what do we want to become going forward?
I for one suggested we throw our lot in with the Rebels. The Empire is out for themselves and they don't care who they hurt to get what they want. And I'm not talking about a little roughing up. I'm talking the destruction of whole worlds. Whether or not the Rebels are truly the "right side" in this, they have to be better than the alternative.
This means we're still arguing about what to do with the disruptor rifles. Some want to give them to the Rebels. Cham and I think that makes us no better than the ones we took the rifles from. If it's too dangerous, too deadly of a weapon to have in enemy hands, then what does it say about us if we think another group should have access to them?
What we agreed on, in the end, was that we should go after Sabbath, the pirate hanging out in the Vodran area of space. Turns out he hangs out right short of a sketchy spot of space routes called the Hasty. Nasty asteroid field there. Gotta pull out of hyperspace to navigate it and that's where he jumps his prey.
Deem ended up having another of his visions- "Hounds held by silver chain leashes, in the hands of dark-robed figures. If they get our scent, the will be relentless." Now his ramblings never make sense, but we figured that it meant someone was going to be looking for us, then chasing us down until they had us.
We came out of hyperspace, a bit early, to try and catch any waiting ambush by surprise. But even knowing what we were getting into, they got us trapped. We were forced to power down and let them tractor us in. We had plans of being clever, but they drew us out.
We left HK inside the ship on low power mode. We had to come out unarmed. Thankfully, Davin's got a knack for hiding things on people. He and I were able to conceal our weapons even through the pat down. There was a half dozen of them out there, and once we were all lined up, the commotion in the ship went down. They'd spotted HK and Rohan and yelled out that it was a trap.
That was our queue. Now- these guys weren't all that terrifying, so I didn't pull out the saber to put them down. Fists were working plenty fine. Until one of them got far enough to trigger the alarm. Next thing you know, we're on a countdown of them venting the atmosphere from the hangar.
We all started making a run for it- toward the door that lead to better air. Gryllus worked on overriding the command on that venting. As we ran, some of us faired better than others with the limited oxygen, but we all helped each other get to safety just as the Gand manages to shut down the environment controls.
(Continued on 12/4 & 12/11)
Gryllus got the door open and we made our way into the belly of the ship. We offered them a chance to surrender, but they would have none of it. Deem ends up seeing that hound related vision again, and before long we hear (and smell) what it means. Nexu. Five of the nasties are let loose on us and we have to deal with them.
We hear some of the pirates on the comm, they're wondering if this commotion is caused by a red blade wielding "her". We find out later it's because Sabbath is giving Cestis rides - so it's not the first time they've seen a saber wielder.
We end up in the final firefight with these guy up on the bridge. Sabbath and his last crew members. We're forced to take them down. One of the blaster doors is shut and while we're opening it we hear something jettisoned from the ship - Sabbath, of course. So much for going down with the ship. We have to take out the last of the crew- and thankfully, Gryllus ended up disabling an IED we ran into and we get to the bridge proper.
Gryllus gets her hands on another handful of droids. ( Swear that she has some kind of strange obsession with them... Do Gand even HAVE obsessions? ... do they even have feelings? )
We start slicing into the system and get all sorts of info.
- Computer shows searches for Moriband but they never reached it.
- Holographic comm to Sabbath on a private channel: "I am almost done on Moriband. I can't make it to our meeting place. I need you to come get me from Vodran." (female form with hooded robes)
So we got a new ship. One that stinks. Is known for piracy. And is kind of just not our style. We're going to figure out what to do next. But hey. One problem off our backs. Kinda.
